Emotionally, it was a roller-coaster ride that gratefully came to an all-is-well gliding stop before week's end.

Saying “Good-bye", "stay in touch", "safe trip home", etc., etc. to so many friends that were here almost until the last minute before the Easter Holy Week began, kept me busy every day (and many of the evenings, lol).

They left in time for the influx of Mexican revelers to take possession of their rented condos and casas and a sea of umbrellas to sprout, almost simultaneously, on the beach.

But the week also brought me four new friends I hadn’t known before, but look forward to getting to know better.

One of these new friends is Wayne, the photographer who gave me approval to use his photo as the reference for my seascape painting - a photo of my painting is at the introduction to this week's blog.

Wayne is an artist in many mediums, some of which I had no idea even existed.  For example, pounded tree bark that creates an incredible background for anything you want to put on it!

We got together because he was working on a large acrylic piece that he was having trouble with and asked me to help him find a solution. He and his friend, Jose, came over and exchanged viewing of photos of our works.  I then gave Wayne suggestions about his painting that, hopefully, will be a solution.  It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

I now have a date next Wednesday to see the beautiful casa in the La Punta area of the Las Hadas Audencia Peninsula that is their winter home.  Then we're going for an early dinner.

The unquestionable highlight of the week happened to Laura, my granddaughter who lives in London, England. She received a massive career kudo to add to her ever-increasing store of accomplishments.

Laura with her Olivier award...

She attended the Olivier Awards, - England’s Tony’s, - for a show for which she was Associate Choreographer – “Fiddler on the Roof”.

The show received 13 nominations, including Best Choreography, and won 3.  This was the highest number of nominations in history, alongside “Hamilton” and the most ever for a musical  revival.

Only a few shows are asked to perform at the Awards and Laura was solely responsible for rehearsing and staging the performance by the dancers, at Royal Albert Hall, seating 5,000.  It was broadcast on television and is now on YouTube.  (I watched the video Laura sent and it is outstanding!!)  This is huge for her career - and for her proud Nana!!

My only regret is that I didn’t get to London to see the musical.  Maybe one day in the future she’ll fly me to another of her shows in her private jet - when she can afford one!  (I have a vivid imagination – but anything is possible these days.)
